droNZ #11 - Hiking to The Gap (Castle Hill peak)

Feb 18, 2017

When I started this droNZ series I had in mind to write a short blog post with each episode I filmed. But then I realized that editing the videos was already quite time consuming and I just abandoned the idea... Until today, or more exactly until I went on this tramping adventure with some friends over to the Gap last week-end. It was such an amazing spot both by the beauty and the surroudings but also by the challenge it was to reach it that I thought "I have to write a little something about it".

Drones & Chocolates

Apr 1, 2016

Last week a friend of mine who works in a Chocolate company back in my home country France called zChocolat, kindly sent me a box of delicious chocolates for Easter. So it is only fair that I allow some of my time to talk about chocolates.
I am not going to promote zChocolat and tell you how amazing their chocolates are (they are), and why you should order from them (you should), no, in this post I just want to talk about how it could be to combine two of my favorite things

Hiking up Indonesian Volcanos

Oct 5, 2015

In Indonesia I dicovered my new favourite hobby, hiking up volcanos. Not only is it thrilling to tell to yourself that you are hiking up an active volcano but once up there, the scenery in front of you is just breathtaking. In this blog post I will talk about my hikes up mount Merapi, Bromo and Ijen.

A few beautiful days on Lake Toba

Aug 21, 2015

I spent 4 days on Lake Toba, and honestly, I could have easily spent a few more days, but there is a lot more to see in Indonesia. While on the Samosir island I stayed at the Chili guesthouse with its very friendly owner Roy and his employees.

From Kuala Lumpur to lake Toba

Jul 24, 2015

The main reason I tookf the ferry to Tanjung Balai and not Dumai where I would have been able to get a visa on arrival, is because I wanted to avoid the 15 hours bus ride from Dumai to lake Toba at any cost - or almost, and from Tanjung Balai Asahan it is just a 5 hours bus ride.

9 months backpacking with my DJI phantom... and counting 2/2

Second part of my journey backpacking with my DJI Phantom.

9 months backpacking with my DJI phantom... and counting 1/2

In 9 months I have travelled overland with my DJI phantom drone in my backpack, from Moscow in Russia to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia between October 2014 and June 2015. As I am writing those lines I am doing some freelance work as a programmer (my real job) for a month. It's sort of a small "break" on my journey. So I decided to jump on the occasion and do a debrief of what happened during those past 9 months. The main purpose of my trip is to take and edit aerial footage and photography taken with my DJI Phantom of the different places I visit. It requires quiet a lot of commitment as editing videos is time consuming. But if you're as passsionate by travel and drones as I am, you'll enjoy spending your time doing it. I'm not saying that I have always been enthusiast about the idea to spend hours reviewing footage, far from that, but in the end, when I see the results, without bragging about it, I am quiet proud of myself.

Small guide to the Thai islands 3/3 : Koh Lanta

Jun 22, 2015

One of the favourite part of my trip in Thailand was visiting the islands. I only went to Koh Tao, Koh PhiPhi and Koh Lanta but I had such good different experiences on each one of them that I decided to blog about it in as much details as I could to share with you the reasons I enjoyed it so much. This third and last part is about Koh Lanta a quiet island (at this time of the year at least) in the south west of Thailand, and my last stop before heading to Malaysia.
